How will a document imaging system affect my daily work?

As you will find in the section What will I have to do differently?, the end-users are the major beneficiaries of a document imaging system. They can instantly find and view documents from any networked PC.

Beyond the ability to instantly find the information that you need to complete a task, your work will not be affected unless management alters the process to complete a task. Keep in mind that a computer system should make the process of pushing paper easier to accomplish rather than using paper alone. Assuming that management keeps this in mind when they adopt the document imaging system, any changes made to your daily workflow will be minimal.

Businesses need to understand that some tasks are easier to complete using paper. But, it's also true that at some point in a paper-document's lifecycle it is more efficient to convert it to an electronic image. To make the determination between doing a task using paper or using an electronic image; management needs to carefully evaluate how a document travels through the workflow process.
