Document Imaging Solutions software uses PDF based document imaging system.

The patient checks in at the front desk when they arrive.

The patient checks in at the front desk when they arrive and they give the receptionist the completed welcome pack.

The receptionist then scans the welcome pack, the patient's driver's license and insurance card into the system and attaches the paper originals to a clip board. The clip board is then handed to the nurse to take with her when she escorts the patient to the exam room.

Tagging the documents can occur immediately or at a later time when the receptionist has the time to complete the task. The images are tagged with:

  Date of service
  Type of document (progress note, driver's license, insurance card, etc.)
  Patient name and patient number

Once the document is tagged they are immediately available on the network for other staff members to access.

It should be noted that a paper patient file folder is never created. This eliminates the cost of a paper file and the time it takes to create a paper patient file. With supplies at $3.50 per file, this adds up to a significant savings annually.
